7-8 Counseling
Cathi Schuurmann is our Pre-K -8th grade school counselor. She graduated from Calvin College and taught middle school language arts in California before earning her Master's degree in school counseling. Before coming to Timothy, she was the Pre-K-8th grade counselor for Southwest Chicago Christian at their Oak Lawn and Tinley Park campuses. Mrs. Schuurmann lives in Lombard with her husband and daughter, Marcail, who was born in June of 2004.
The Counseling Program was started at the Pre-K -8th grade level in the 2003-2004 school year.
During the week, Mrs. Schuurmann sees many middle school students individually for many different reasons. Friendship problems, developing social skills, behavior issues, conflicts at home and dealing with grief are some of the most common situations.
