Chess Club Awards Banquet Highlights
The Timothy Chess Club strives for the highest of goals: "We play for the King," is the motto of this program. This double-meaning couldn't be a better fit- the team is dedicated to helping each team member become the best chess player he or she can be, and they are even more dedicated toward having everyone playing as Christian examples
The Chess team recently had a special evening- an awards banquet where each of the team members were recognized for his/her contribution to the team.
Team member Kyle Groters shared how much he learned about winning and losing while setting examples as a Christian," I feel that I have gained leadership experience by watching my coaches and encouraging others."
Steven Barre was acknowledge for 31 tournaments, high ratings and assistant coach for the elementary members. Each team member was recognized. Mr. Barre made sure that they are all recognized from rookie of the year, to most improved player.
Thanks to coaches Mr. Mike Engbers, Mr. Todd Barre and Steven Barre for assisting with this outstanding program!
