College Representatives at Timothy Christian

 

Each year college representatives from public, private, and Christian colleges visit Timothy Christian High School to talk with prospective students.  Most of these visits occur during the lunch period of first semester.  The weekly schedule is posted on the bulletin board outside of the office and also included on the Counseling Calendar, listed to the left.

Questions to Ask College Representatives:

1.  Admission

  • What are the admission requirements? Do I have a reasonable chance of being accepted?
  • Could I have a copy of the college's current profile?
  • Do I need a personal interview?
  • When are the application deadlines?

2.  Tests

  • Do you accept both the ACT and the SAT as college admission exams?
  • Do I need to take the SAT  Subject Tests?
  • What is the average test score for entering college freshmen?

3.  Courses of Study

  • Does the college offer an adequate program in the specific area of study which I plan to major?
  • What is the duration of the program I am interested in?
  • What are the graduation requirements in my intended major study area?

4.  Cost/Financial Aid

  • What are the estimated costs for tuition, room and board, and books?
  • What are the sources of financial aid and scholarships?
  • When are the deadlines for financial aid and scholarships?
  • Are there departmental and talent scholarships?

5.  Housing

  • What housing options are available?
  • How difficult is it to secure on-campus housing?
  • What is the cost?
  • How do I apply? 
  • Is it separate from the admission application?
  • How many students live on campus?
  • Do a lot of students leave on weekends?

6.  Social

  • What types of student activities and athletics are available?
  • How are your dorms set up?

7.  Spiritual

  • What fellowship and ministry opportunities are there on campus and off campus?

8.  Community College

  • Will I be able to complete transferable prerequisites to my major field?
  • What are the advantages to going to a community college?
