Personal Profile
I grew up in Highland, Indiana as Ellen Van Dellen. I am a graduate of Highland Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. I earned my degree from Purdue Calumet.
My husband Dan and I are members of Elmhurst CRC. We have three children – Matt, Kristin, and Alison. Matt works in finance, Kristin is a 2nd grade teacher, and Alison is a U of I grad who recently worked at Walt Disney World for 5 months. We are also the proud grandparents of Nate!
In my leisure time I like to read and travel. I am an avid sports fan. I love to attend games to cheer on the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and the Fighting Illini!
Professional Profile
I earned my B.A. degree in elementary education from Purdue University. Each year I attend at least one conference to learn more about my field of teaching primary-aged children.
I am a member of the Illinois Reading Council and the International Reading Association. I have served on selection committees to choose new reading and language arts textbooks. It has been my privilege to serve on the NCA Steering Committee at Timothy.
Philosophical Profile
As a Christian educator, I seek to be “life-toucher”. I want to equip my students academically and spiritually so that they will be prepared Christian disciples seeking to transform the world in Jesus’ name. I strive to infuse every academic area with the joy and wonder of God’s creation and His plan of salvation for our lives.
I can think of no other vocational choice that would challenge and engage me the way that teaching does. Each child has been given unique talents by God. Each day I have a new opportunity to touch a child’s life and soul!
