2/8/10 - vs. Willow - W-52-30
The Lady Trojans opened up Regional play this evening vs. Willows Academy. The Lady Trojans rushed out to an early 16-2 lead after one quarter. That impressive quarter set the tone for the rest of the game as Timothy ended up winning comfortably 52-30. Several players contributed on the night with Cassidy Block leading the way with 13 points. Kari LeGrand and Maggie VanderWoude chipped in 12 and 6 respectively. Timothy now focuses it's attention on Immaculate Conception. The Lady Trojans will challenge the #1 seed in the Regional at 6:00pm tomorrow night. Make plans now to come on out and support the Girls as they battle cross town foe IC.
Also, Kari LeGrand and Jordyn Platt advanced in the 3 point competition. Kari hit 10 3's while Jordyn dropped in 6. The girls will shoot tomorrow at 5:15 for the chance to advance to the regional final.
2/2/10 - vs. Chicago Christian - W-37-32
The Lady Trojans won a hard fought game last night against former league rival Chicago Christian. With much of the game being very tight, it was a big basket by sophomore Jasmine Stein and some clutch free throw shooting by Jordyn Platt that preserved the win. A lot of credit goes to the girls for playing hard and winning the rebound portion of the game. Amanda Dykema had 13 of those rebounds plus 8 points. Cassidy Block also had a strong game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Maggie VanderWoude had 4 rebounds and some nice blocks, while Kari LeGrand had 7 rebounds. A good win for the team this evening!
1/21/10 - vs. Walthern Lutheran - L-49-42
The Lady Trojans played familiar foe Walther Lutheran this evening and the game was another interesting battle between the two schools. Walther jumped out to a 21 to 9 halftime lead behind some timely 3pt shots and pressure defense. The Lady Trojans were unable to find the bottom of the basket for much of the 1st half and contributed several turnovers. After refocusing at halftime, Timothy put together a rally that was fun to watch. Trailing at one point by 18 points, the Lady Trojans came all the way back to within 4. However, the finishing product was not to be as Walther hit some timely free throws and the Lady Trojans came up empty on the offensive end. Cassidy Block led Timothy with 13 points and 7 reb. Kari LeGrand had 11 points and 5 reb while Jordyn Platt had 10 pts and 6 steals. The final score was 49-42.
1/19/10 - vs. Ridgewood - W-46-34
The Lady Trojans returned to action this afternoon, playing against a conference opponent from Ridgewood. The Lady Trojans were busy studying all week for 1st semester exam, so it was good to get out and play after a long draining week. Timothy responded right out of the gate with a 15-4 advantage after the 1st quarter. Ridgewood battled back a little in the 2nd quarter, but Timothy was able to take a 23-14 lead into the half. Much like the 1st quarter, Timothy came roaring out of the break with a 16-3 advantage in the quarter. Leading by a comfortable margin, the Lady Trojans got a little stale and Ridgewood trimmed the lead to 12 before the final score of 46-34. Cassidy Block turned in a fine overall performance with 14 points, 9 reb, 4 assists and 3 steals. Kari LeGrand had 11 points (3/3 from 3pt land)and had 2 assists. Amanda Dykema contributed 4 points, 9 reb, 2 assists and 2 steals while Maggie VanderWoude had 3 steals and 4 points. Overall the Lady Trojans dished out 14 assists and moved the ball very well. Thanks to all the fans for all the support on a Saturday afternoon.
Lady Trojans Split Two - 1/8 & 1/9/2010
Over the weekend the Lady Trojans played two games. On Friday night, Timothy battled against conference foe Fenton and fell a little short, 33-29. The game experienced a very tight game throughout, but the Lady Trojans were unable to execute down the stretch. The girls played hard and fought to the end, but just came up a little short.
Timothy did not have much of a break or rest for that matter, with Holland (MI) Christian coming to town. The game was a challenge unto itself because the girls had to come back from a tough loss the night before. That they did. The Lady Trojans played some great defense in the firs half, holding Holland Christian to 4 first half points. The second half saw the pace pick up and the game became more intense. Holland Christian made a strong run to close the gap to four, but Timothy responded in making some big free throws and won the game 38-30.
Timothy has a little bit of a break this coming week with exams looming on Wednesday. The Lady Trojans will be back in action again on Saturday the 16th at home vs. Ridgewood.
12/16/09 - vs. Westmont - L-52-35
The Lady Trojans were unable to slow down Westmont this evening, losing 52-35. The first half saw a lot of positives for the Lady Trojans, with good ball movement, hitting the open shot and playing some pretty good defense. However, there are two halves in a game and the second half was not so good. Westmont dominated the paint with their big girls and were able to hit some timely 3 pointers to open up the lead. Another learning point for the Lady Trojans as they continue to form their identity. Once again, Cassidy Block led the team in scoring with 10 points, Kari LeGrand chipped in 7 and Jordyn Platt had 6. Timothy plays again this coming Thursday at Elmwood Park.
12/16/09- Team Service Project
We will be helping CareNet Pregnancy Services in Downers Grove on Wednesday the 16th of December. Our “project” will be helping attach filers to baby bottles for a fund drive in January. In January, the bottles will be given to local churches to fill up and help supply CareNet with the necessary funds to help young women with unplanned pregnancies. We are fortunate to be able to give of our time and help to a cause that is very important in helping young mothers in the western suburbs of Chicago.
CareNet Pregnancy Services of DuPage is a 501(c)3 Christian organization whose vision is to eliminate the suffering from and desire for abortion in DuPage County. For over 27 years, CareNet has done this by working to prevent unplanned pregnancies through its abstinence education program (now called Amplify Youth Development) and by providing emotional support, spiritual counseling and practical help to men and women dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
*We will also be donating a check to CareNet based upon our proceeds from Summer League. Coach DeKoekkoek would like to thank the many parents and players for giving of their resources and time to make this donation possible. Thank you to all!
12/10/09 vs. Riverside Brookfield L- 62-52
The Lady Trojans were unable to get the victory this evening against a strong team from Riverside-Brookfield. The Bulldogs from R-B pressured the Lady Trojans into several turnovers which attributed a lot of easy points for R-B. Combining the turnovers with some good offensive rebounds from R-B, the Lady Trojans were battling a deficit the whole game. Timothy was led in scoring by Cassidy Block with 14 points, Jordyn Platt 11 points and Amanda Dykema with 8.
Timothy plays again next week at Westmont High School on Tuesday the 15th of December. Another quality opponent for the Lady Trojans lies ahead.
12/8/09 vs. Fenton - W-32-31
The Lady Trojans won a nail bitter this evening, beating Fenton 32-31 to improve to 2-1 in conference. The game had a lot of ups and downs, but in the end the Lady Trojans persevered and pulled out the tough victory. Timothy trailed after one quarter, 9-4 and then proceeded to cut the lead to one at the half, 14-13. The Lady Trojans came out a little flat in the 3rd quarter and it showed with Fenton winning the quarter 13-5. Trailing by 9 entering the 4th quarter, the Lady Trojans needed a comeback and that is exactly what happened. Timothy tightened up their defense and made some huge baskets on the offensive end. The Lady Trojans outscored Fenton 14-4 in the 4th and no two points were bigger than Cassidy Block’s game winning lay-up with 2 seconds left. A lot of credit goes to the girls for working hard and staying tough when things were not going there way. Amanda Dykema led Timothy with 10 points, 8 rebounds, Jordyn Platt had 7 points, 3 steals and Cassidy Block had 6 points and 7 rebounds. A good win for the Lady Trojans. Thanks to everyone who came and made it through the snow and sleet. Your support was much appreciated!!
12/5/09 - vs. Illiana - L-56-42
The Lady Trojans lost their first conference game this evening. Illiana jumped out to an early lead after one quarter and pretty much kept a safe lead from there. The Lady Trojans threatened in the 3rd Quarter, cutting the lead to 7, but were unable to sustain the rally. Cassidy Block once again led Timothy with 14 points, 2 rebounds, Jordyn Platt and Liz Powers each chipped in 8 points, while Lauren Couture dropped in 4 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Kari LeGrand and Amanda Dykema led the team with 8 rebounds apiece. Renata Harris also contributed with 5 rebounds and 2 points. A tough loss to take, but Timothy now gears up for another week in which they host two conference games.
12/3/09 vs. St. Joseph - L-82-48
The Chargers from St. Joe were too much to handle on this night. With the game being played at a very fast tempo, the Lady Trojans were not able to keep up. Give credit to St. Joe’s for some great shooting, strong inside presence and overall pressure defense. Timothy was able to get some positives out of the game as the team continues to form it’s identity. Timothy was led in scoring by Jordyn Platt 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals Maggie VanderWoude 10 points (4/4 from the field) and Kari LeGrand with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Renata Harris chipped in 2 points, 3 rebounds. A valuable and needed experience for the Lady Trojans tonight!
12/1/09 - vs. Ridgewood - W-48-36

The Lady Trojans closed the half with a good spurt, pushing the lead to 24-11. Ridgewood battled back in the 3rd Quarter, cutting the lead to 5 points at one time. Thankfully, the Lady Trojans stepped up when needed and closed the game with some timely shots. Cassidy Block led the team with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Other contributors on the night were: Jordyn Platt with 7 points and 5 steals, Jasmine Stein with 6 points, 2 steals, Maggie VanderWoude 4 points, 4 rebounds Kari LeGrand 7 rebounds, 3 assists and Amanda Dykema with 6 points, 4 rebounds.
