Mr. Jon Hamelinck

Personal Profile
I was born and raised in a small tourist town about an hour from Toronto, Ontario. I loved to spend time outdoors and being surrounded by God’s creation. After high school I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, so like most Christian Reformed High School graduates from my area I attended Calvin College where I met my wife. We have been married for just over a year. At the end of my sophomore year at Calvin I decided I wanted to be a teacher and have enjoyed every step of the way. I enjoy playing board games, guitar, and anything related to hockey.
Professional Profile
I graduated from Calvin with B.S.Ed in Biology and Chemistry in January of ’10. Immediately after that I took a long-term sub position at Martin High School in Martin, MI for the remainder of that school year. Last year, I was a substitute teacher at Timothy and helped run an after-school tutoring program in Romeoville. This year will be my first full year as a biology and algebra teacher as well as the freshmen girls’ volleyball coach.
Philosophical Profile
I believe God wants us to be actively involved in His Creation whether it is asking questions, investigating the intricacies of His handiwork, or simply being surrounded by His Creation in awe-struck wonder. I believe that in every student there is a certain degree of curiosity about the world. My role as a teacher is to further develop this curiosity so that each student can appreciate the mysteriousness and wonder of all that God calls His. In doing so, we learn who God is and can continue to take steps forward in our walk of faith with Christ.
