Ms. Bethany Hoekman - After School Program Director
Personal Profile:
Hi! My name is Beth Hoekman, and I am the After School Program Director. I just moved back to my parent's house after graduating from Seminary this past May. I am a former graduate of Timothy Christian Schools, I went to Timothy from Pre-K through 12th grade! It's great to be back in a familiar place! I enjoy being the After School Program Director, I always have a lot of fun playing with the kids and doing different activities. In addition to working at Timothy, I spend my time reading as many books as I can, going to Lake Michigan, and hanging out with my family and friends. I am currently a member at Elmhurst CRC, and hope to work with the youth group there.
Professional Profile:
I graduated in 2009 from Calvin Theological Seminary with an M. A. in Educational Ministry. While there, I participated in two youth ministry internships in Grand Rapids. Before that, I went to Hope College, and graduated in 2007 with a B. A. degree in Sociology and Religion. I did two more youth ministry internships while I was at Hope. When I graduated from college, I was pretty set on working with high school and junior high students, but God had other plans for me. I enjoy working with kids of all ages and feel so blessed to be working at Timothy.
Philosophical Profile:
"Teach a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. I find this verse to be so fitting in my life's journey. I believe that teaching our children Christian principles when they are young can help them grow to be lifelong Christians. Having grown up at Timothy, I believe that the principles they taught me provided a foundation for my life. I strive to have the same principles in everything in I do, and most importantly, I try to show them Christ's love every day.
