Dr. Tim Hoeksema, P-8 Principal
Personal Profile
I grew up in Chicago as the middle child of nine (that explains some things) and am happy to be back “home” after many years away. I’m slowly adjusting to the fast pace of life in the big city (the pace is really fine; it’s the traffic I’m adjusting to), and have particularly enjoyed being able to stay more immediately connected to the Chicago sports teams. As a life long Cub fan, I bear the scars of disappointment but also the strength of character that results from repeated heartbreak. I have a strong interest in all sports and enjoy playing them as well, and love any activities that allow me to be outdoors including hiking , biking, river kayaking, cross county skiing, . I also have a passion for fishing that I inherited from my father and grandfather.
Professional Profile
I’m a 1974 (ouch) graduate of Trinity Christian College (B.A. in Theology), received my M.A. in Education from Nova University, and earned an Ed.D from UCLA in School Administration. I’ve taught both middle school and high school (Bible, Social Studies, and PE) and have coached basketball, baseball, football, and softball at the high school level. I have worked in Christian schools in Miami, Denver, Los Angeles, and Holland, Michigan. I came to Timothy last year after spending the previous 18 years as a high school principal, and the change has been a real blessing. The younger children enjoy coming to school every day, they still love their principal (what a refreshing difference J ), and the food in an elementary faculty room is far superior to any high school faculty room!
Philosophical Profile
As a reformed-thinking Christian, I acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Lord of all creation, including education. I also recognize the importance of sharing His goodness and greatness with our children as we instructed in Deuteronomy 6: 4-9. Consequently, TCS exists to help Christian parents in their desire to have their children educated in a school that shares their fundamental core values and Biblical world view. It is an honor for me to work in a school that pursues its Christ centered mission with passion and consistency.
