IMSA Sophomore Tournament
Timothy Christian 4; Joliet Catholic 2
The final day of the Illinois Math & Science Academy Sophomore Tournament began with the Trojans falling behind 1-0, then pulling ahead 2-1, but then seeing J.C. tie it up again at 2-2 within just 20 seconds. However, tremendous all around team play spearheaded by Man of the Match, Wes Ditchfield resulted in goals by Lucas Schmidt and Tyler Vlasak to produce a victory for our good guys.

Just an hour later, the Trojans took on the host school and scoring in rapid succession were Jon Cuomo, Andrew Wieringa, Gus Psimoulis, Wes Ditchfield, Greg Biesboer, Tyler Vlasak and Lucas Schmidt. Geneva finished with a tournament record of 3-0, TC was 2-1, Joliet Catholic was 1-2 and IMSA was 0-3. The Trojans walked away with a 2nd place trophy and a final season record of 10-5-3.

The Sophomore team, participating in the first round of the Illinois Math & Science Academy Sophomore Tournament, dropped their first game of the Tournament by the score of 4 to 0. Freshmen midfielders Jon Barrera, Lucas Schmidt and Greg Biesboer played valiantly again!
JV Suffers Loss to U-High

University High 4; Timothy Christian 1
Timothy took one on the chin against Univeristy High on Wednesday as they were outplayed by the score of 4 to 1. Andrew Wieringa collected his fourth goal of the season and Jon Cuomo assisted for the sixth time. Sweeper, Gus Psimoulis was the Man of the Match.
JV Soccer Defeats Notre Dame

The Trojan defensive and offensive machines were exploding on all cylinders on Monday when the freshman and sophomore boys defeated Notre Dame to improve their record to 8-2-2. The blanket in the back was led by Gus Psimoulis, Greg Biesboer, Caleb Hays, Jack Miller and Logan Devries. Goal scorers were: Lucas Schmidt, Jon Cuomo, Tyler Vlasak (2), Andrew Wieringa and Christian Bravo. Serving assists to those goal scorers were: Riley DeHaan, Wes Ditchfield (2) and Andrew Wieringa
JV Soccer Ties with Illiana during TCSFest

On the day of the celebration of Timothy's 100th anniversary, the Sophomore Boys Soccer Team played perhaps their best all-around match of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Jake Smrz showed many of the phenomenal and courageous goalkeeping qualities of Student Assistant Coach Kyle Groters, as he proves to all watching that he is one of the finest and most improved goalkeepers in the Conference by holding Illiana to just one score. Jake must also kiss the crossbar above his head, which was struck by the shot of an Illiana player in the final 10 seconds of the match. Freshman Lucas Schmidt continued to show why he is one of the most improved field players in the conference with his relentless running and pressure on opposing defenders from his striker position. This work ethic paid off with Lucas scoring his third goal of the season off a terrific feed from Wes Ditchfield who himself was again magnificent on the field. Freshman Co-Captain Tyler Vlasak was named Man Of The Match for his efforts as the solo center midfielder for a bulk of the game. Others who stood out in this match were Freshman defenders Caleb Hays and Andrew Wieringa, Sophomore midfielder Jon Cuomo and Freshman forward Christian Bravo.
JV Soccer vs. Northridge Prep

Northridge Prep achieved an accomplishment by holding the Trojans to only one score in one half and 15 seconds of soccer action last Friday. The game was then postponed by lightning and eventually cancelled. Timothy Christian however flexed their soccer prowess in a hard fought and muddy game where the two sophomore co-captains, Wes Ditchfield and Jon Cuomo again teamed for their only goals of the match. Gus Psimoulis, Logan Devries and Greg Biesboer were also once again efficient and effective on the defensive side of the field.
JV Soccer Loses Tough One to RB

Riverside-Brookfield 3; Timothy Christian 1
The Sophomore boys were embroiled in another courageous soccer battle on the field last night at Riverside-Brookfield and fell to R-B by the score of 3 to 1. Sophomore co-captaind Wes Ditchfield and Jon Cuomo combined for a tremendous goal to put the Trojans up 1 to 0, but the boys then gave up three consecutive goals. Tyler Vlasak was named the Man Of The Match for his distinguished, tireless and selfless play in this match.
JV Soccer Has First Loss of Season

The Trojans suffered their first loss of the season to a strong team from Fenton High School by the score of 3 to 0. Freshman defender Greg Biesboer played magnificently, perhaps his best match of the season. Great determination and team play were also displayed by Lucas Schmidt, Jake Smrz, Gus Psimoulis, Andrew Wieringa, Tyler Vlasak, Caleb Hays Jack Miller and Jon Cuomo.
JV Soccer Now 7-0 with Win vs. Elmwood Park

The Sophomore Soccer Team improved their record to a perfect 7 & 0; and 2 & 0 in conference with a narrow victory last night over Elmwood Park High School by the score of 3 to 2. Jon Cuomo opened the scoring with his 3rd goal of the seasons, a shot from 15 yards out, after a brilliant pass from Tyler Vlasak. In the second half Kyle Brouwer penetrated into the Elmwood Park penalty area and was fouled resulting in a successful penalty kick by Wes Ditchfield. Tyler continued his excellent runs with the ball upfield shortly thereafter and fed Wes with 10 minutes remaining in the match for the game winning goal and Wes' 8th goal in six sophomore games this season! Jake Smrz was the victorious goalkeeper and Gus Psimoulis was named the Man Of The Match for his exemplary leadership.
Sophomore Soccer Team against Ridgewood

The Trojan sophomore team consisting of six sophomores and eleven freshmen were matched up against another junior varsity team last night and fell behind early in the first half, 0-1. Wes Ditchfield then came through again on a breakaway straight up the middle of the field, helped along by a magnificent lead pass from Sweeper, Gus Psimoulis. With the score tied at 1-1 in the second half, Lucas Schmidt generated a penalty kick for the Trojans in the Ridgewood penalty area and Andrew Wieringa converted by pounding a laser into the the lower right corner which the goalkeeper guess right at, but still could not stop. In immediate succession Andrew added another goal assisted by Wes; as well as Riley DeHaan also assisted by Wes. As usual, Greg Biesboer and Jake Smrz were amazing on defense.
Sophomore Boys' Soccer Earn 5th Consecutive Win of Season

A warm and bright Saturday morning match brought out some of the best ball control play in the young Trojans, as they kicked their way to their fifth consecutive victory of the season. Center midfielder Jon Cuomo scored twice in the first half and was assisted by Andrew Wieringa (his fourth assist of the season) and Daniel Renn. Lucas Schmidt also scored (his second of the year), assisted by Tyler Vlasak. With the score 3 to 2 at halftime, Jake Smrz shut down Earlville in the second half along with key defending from Caleb Hays and Logan Devries!
Sophomore Boys Soccer Continues Winning Streak vs. St. Francis

The Sophomore Boys were victorious in their third staight match yesterday by the score 2 to 1 over visiting Wheaton St. Francis. Freshman Goalkeeper Brett Kwasigroch was again outstanding in goal and was supported by the very determined defense of Gus Psimoulis, Greg Biesbor, Jack Miller and Caleb Hays. Jon Cuomo and Andrew Wieringa again anchored the creative midfield play and these two assisted on goals scored by Lucas Schmidt and Wes Ditchfield. The hustling and electric play of Lucas produced his first goal in his Timothy Christian career.
Sophomore Soccer Defeats IMSA

The Sophomore Boys Soccer Team was victorious in their second staight match of the young season with a convincing 5 to 1 victory over visiting Illinois Math & Science Academy. IMSA had defeated the TC freshmen/sophomores last year by the score of 5 to 0; but this time, the Trojans determined that this year would be very different. Wes Ditchfield again scored two goals and single scores were contributed by Christian Bravo, Riley DeHaan and Tyler Vlasak. Assisting on these goals were Jon Berrara (2), Jon Cuomo, Wes Ditchfield and Andrew Wieringa. Freshman Brett Kwasigroch started his first match as a Trojan goalkeeper and allowed only one goal. Wes Ditchfield, coming off the bench to score for the third and fourth times in just two matches was named the Man of the Match.
JV Soccer Opens Season with a Victory against Lisle

The Timothy Christian Sophomore Boys Soccer Team kicked off their 2011 season with an exciting 2 to1 victory over the Lisle Lions on their first day of school yesterday! Freshman goalkeeper, Jake Smrz initiated his high school career with some very bold denials of four Lisle breakaways and he and the stout Trojan defense allowed only one ball into their net. Sophomore co-captain Wes Ditchfield moved forward from his defensive position on two occasions in the second half and each time finished two beautiful shots to account for Timothy's two goals! Sophomore co-captain Jon Cuomo and freshmen Andrew Wieringa assisted on these scores.
