Ms. Valerie Kroll

Personal Profile

As I continue my teaching career at Timothy, I am awestruck by the power of God’s faithful hand as he prepared me for this stage in my life. I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN with my wonderful parents and older sister. A passion for Christian education was installed in me early as my parents made it a priority to send both me and my sister to a Christian school. I moved to Villa Park in July 2010, and I have really enjoyed exploring and getting to know the people and the Chicago area since. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, listening to and making music, reading all kinds of books, cheering for the MN Twins, and spending time with family and friends.

Professional Profile

I graduated from Dordt College in May 2010 with a degree in Elementary Education accompanied by an Endorsement in Reading and a Field of Specialization in Special Education. I had a wonderful student teaching experience in 3rd grade at Orange City Christian School and in a Title I Reading Room at Kinsey Elementary School in Sioux Center, IA. I began teaching first grade at Timothy Christian School in August 2010, and I am so grateful to be part of the Timothy community.

Philosophical Profile

As a Christian teacher, I recognize each one of my students as a unique image bearer of God with special talents and interests. I love witnessing students’ energy and excitement about learning, and I aim to challenge students while giving them the necessary support to meet their individual needs.

As I teach, I strive to guide my students as Christ’s disciples as they learn and play together, discover new things, and grow stronger in their understanding of and relationship with their Creator. I believe God’s hand is evident in all of His creation, and it is our privilege at Timothy to be able to recognize this and make it known. As I love my students, I pray that they see Christ’s love shining through me.
