Personal Profile
I am a native Chicagoan and love the city. My hobbies include the history and architecture of Chicago, and calm kayaking. Several years ago I discovered the meaning of life, but forgot to write it down. My wife Cathy and I are members of the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Oak Forest, Illinois. Cathy is agency nurse for Elim Christian Services, Palos Heights (IL). Our three married children were blessed by Christian education and the work of Christian colleges: Joshua at Trinity Christian College, Anne at Gordon College, and Cate at Seattle Pacific University. We look forward to the blessings of Christian education on our four grandchildren.
Professional Profile
I am a graduate of Calvin College, Grand Rapids (MI). I attended Calvin Theological Seminary, then received a Masters of Religious Education degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield (IL). I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University of Chicago, and served Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights (IL) as Vice President for Student Development from 1976-1996. In 1996 I became the Director of Advancement for Timothy Christian Schools. My professional interest is in the area of educational choice and justice, and I do what I can to strengthen and deepen Christian education, especially in the Chicagoland area. I often speak at Christian education conferences, teacher in-services, adult education classes on a variety of topics, and preach in area churches.
Philosophical Profile
As Director of Advancement and Community Relations, I serve God and His people as a storyteller, cheerleader, and stewardship agent.
I enthusiastically tell the story of what God is doing at Timothy Christian Schools for the sake of his Kingdom.
I eagerly promote the vision of Reformed Christian education whenever and wherever possible.
I conscientiously serve to link God's people and their resources of time, talent and treasure to the possibilities Christian stewardship presents.
