Mrs. Cathy Mc Neil Stein
I am a wife, mother, and attorney. My husband and I have four children and live in Villa Park. Our oldest child graduated from Timothy in 2005 and is currently attending Wheaton College. Our three younger children attend the middle school (eighth grade) and high school (tenth and eleventh grade).
After practicing law in the trial department of a downtown law firm for 18 years, I decided to follow God’s lead and leave the full-time practice of law. My volunteer efforts have always involved children and education, and I believe that now, more than ever, a Christ-centered education is of paramount importance to today’s children. I would like to continue to serve children by sharing my experiences and insight as a member of the Timothy Board.
I currently advise the high school Mock Trial team, volunteer in the elementary/middle school library, substitute teach when needed, and manage the book department in the New to You Upscale Resale store. I also assist the high school students in planning and presenting the annual Black History program.
My family and I attend Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood. Over the years, I have worked with the children’s ministry in various capacities, including planning and coordinating the weekly worship services and the annual Children’s Day and Christmas programs. I have served as Vice Chair of the Board of the Chicago Children’s Choir and as Chairman of the Human Resources Committee of the Board. Also, I have served as a member of the Board of the Harvard Law Society and as Vice President of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.
I received my undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1983 and my law degree from Harvard Law School in 1986.
