8th Grade Retreat - August 27-28, 2009

8th graders at Timothy typically eagerly anticipate the first week of school.  Why?  Because they start their school year with the annual 8th Grade Retreat!

The students, teachers and chaperones boarded buses on Thursday morning and headed to Camp Manitoqua, a Christian camp located in Frankfurt, IL.  Upon arrival, the students were divided into cabins and each group was assigned a cabin leader and small group leader.

During their two day stay, the 8th graders were kept busy, despite some soggy weather.  They enjoyed a variety of activities inlcuding dirtboarding, the zipline, the climbing wall, the high ropes course, team building exercises on the low ropes course, hanging in the game room, swimming in the pools and performing skits.

The theme for the retreat was based on I Corinthians 12:27, "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it,", with a focus on community and integrating the worship theme: Shine for God's Glory.

8th grade teacher Tony Peterson reported that the retreat went very smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time. Special thanks to the 8th grade team for all the planning and of course, the brave parent chaperones.
