8th Grade Civil War Study
Mrs. Judy Sytsma's 8th Grade Social Study classes recently had "visitors" from the Civil War, with help from the Confederate and Union uniforms on loan from the Cantigny War Museum. The students spent the day trying on the uniforms and learning about trousers and hardtack, as well as many other old artifacts.
Trunks from the Winfield Museum came complete with horse hair toothbrushes, canteens, and boots held together with wooden pegs. This was a fun time and the students are looking forward to the WW II unit when they will again get the uniforms from that time period.
