"Seussical the Musical" a Smashing Success
Audiences who attended the performances of "Seussical the Musical" this past weekend were taken on a joyous romp through the Jungle of Nool and Whoville while meeting some of Seuss' most beloved characters.
The high energy and talented cast told the story of JoJo, played by Abigail Canfield, a very imaginative girl who likes to "think." She meets up with the Cat in the Hat, who was played by Joe Meigs with just the perfect blend of mischievousness and fun. Jo-Jo enters the world of the "Whos", ruled by the entertaining mayor and his wife, played by Peter Matthews and Betsy McKay. Their town is in danger as it is drifting through space, until it lands on a flower and is discovered by our hero, Horton the Elephant, played by Danny Huizinga. His next door neighbor, Gertrude McFuzz, played by Amanda Hayes, is doing her best to get him to notice her and goes through great extremes to win his affection. But, Horton has bigger problems because the Wickershams have stolen the flower and Mayzie, played by Marissa Allen has abandoned her job on the nest so conscientious Horton is now egg-sitting. The Sour Kangaroo, played by Rachel Slager, does her best to convince everyone that Horton is crazy. Poor Jo-Jo has been sent to fight the war of "Butter Side Up" under the direction of the slightly crazed Schmitz, played by Steven Barre.
In the end, Jo-Jo is returned to her parents and yells "yopp" with enough force to be heard, the elephant is cleared of any wrong doing and gets the bird, the kangaroo realizes she was wrong, and the egg hatches, revealing an elephant-bird who will be taught both earth and sky by her parents. Does any of this make sense? If it does, then you can tell yourself, as the song goes, "How Lucky You Are" that you were able to see another one of Timothy's fine musical productions!
Great job to the entire cast, crew and directors Stephen Bates and Aaron Lindloff for a fun and highly entertaining show.
