8th Grade Retreat
During the first week of the 2011-12 school year, 84 members of the 8th grade class, 4 of their teachers, and 13 parent chaperones bravely took on the challenge of team building at Camp Manitoqua in Frankfort. This yearly event helps build community within the class. The students participated in puzzling team building challenges, courage-testing high ropes courses, and a strength-testing climbing wall and zip line. Students were asked to step outside their comfort zone to cross rope ladders as high as the tops of the trees, group together to form skits, and sit down to learn about their spiritual gifts.
The weather was absolutely perfect for the outing and student growth was clearly evident by the time they returned to school Friday afternoon. We thank the teachers and chaperones for helping out with such a challenging event and look forward to a community-building school year!
