Chess Team Takes 3rd Place

Congratulations to members of the Chess club for their 3rd place finish at the Algonquin Middle School Chess Tournament!

On January 28, over 100 students from area schools participated in the Knights of the Forest Scholastic Tournament.  In addition to the team honors, several students won individual awards.  2nd grader Eddie Favela earned 9th place in the K-3 section.  Ryan Hammond received 2nd place for 4th grade.  Daniel Mattox and Jack Vandermolen earned 4th and 10th place respectively in the overall middle school section with Manny Favela winning 1st place for sixth grade.  2nd grader Jack Gazdacka competed well in his first tournament. 

Chess club meets at 7pm on Thursday nights through mid-March.  All are welcome (K-12) as we "Play for the King!"
