And the winner of the MS Spelling Bee is.....
That's a good question! This year's Middle School Spelling Bee took place the afternoon of January 19 in the Huizenga auditorium. However, when only two spellers remained and the clock read 3 pm, the judges had to make a difficult decision to call it a draw and finish the competition at a later time.
The 17 contestants did an admirable job spelling difficult words and slowly trickled out of the competition until Round 11 when only three contestants remained. Two rounds later, our two finalists, Daniel Kuiper (7th grade) and Sebastian Bravo (5th grade), began the epic "spell-off" that lasted 8 rounds until it was called on account of time.
Daniel and Sebastian will complete the Spelling Bee sometime next week and we will be announcing the winner once it has been decided.
