The Winner of the MS Spelling Bee is...
Sebastian Bravo! (right in photo) After last week's competition ended in a draw due to time, our two finalists had to wait to see who would be the winner.
Sebastian and other finalist Daniel Kuiper took a written test on Wednesday,
January 25 that consisted of ten words. Five of the words came from the study list and five came from a list of words not included on the study list. They made it a close competition with Daniel spelling seven words correctly and Sebastian with eight.
Sebastian will go on to represent Timothy February 8 at the DuPage County Private School Bee against 28 other schools, which will take place here in the Huizenga auditorium.
Congratulations to our winner Sebastian Bravo and runner-up Daniel Kuiper! Both gentlemen demonstrated good sportsmanship, excellent spelling skills and patience!
It's interesting to note that this year our fifth graders have had excellent representation in both the Geography Bee and Spelling Bee. Fifth graders Will DeMey and Sebastian Bravo both won their respective Elementary School competitions and then went on to win the Middle School competitions as well! To our knowledge, this is a "first" at Timothy!
