TCSFest Celebrates Timothy Christian’s First 100 Years
As part of the school's year-long 100th anniversary celebration, Timothy Christian Schools threw a massive outdoor party on Saturday, October 1st.. Dubbed "TCSFest," this outdoor family festival delivered food, games, and entertainment for the whole family.
Timothy’s 23 acre campus was packed with activities like carnival rides, games, inflatable obstacle courses, and a wide range of food and entertainment. There were guided bus tours to Timothy’s old Cicero campus, sidewalk chalk murals, a video testimonial booth, an alumni art gallery, Ultimate Frisbee and "Bags" Tournaments, archive room to view TC Memorabilia, birthday cake, a "Fun Fair," and soccer games versus long-time school rival Illiana Christian. A popular booth was the "Pitch Burst" which featured brave members of our faculty and board who endured being pelted with water, bird seed, chocolate sauce and a myriad of other icky"stuff," much to the delight of the students.
A key moment on the day’s schedule of events was the unveiling of a commemorative monument dedicated to the faculty and staff of Timothy Christian’s first century. Illinois State Senator Kirk Dillard and Illinois State Representative Chris Nybo were on hand for the dedication. Each spoke of the pride that the Timothy community brings to the county and state. When the monument was unveiled, the crowd responded with a spontaneous round of applause. The monument was dedicated with a community prayer after Superintendent Matt Davidson read the monument's inscription.
The entertainment features for the day included a variety of acts including the Timothy Jazz Band, Timothy’s orchestra, Timothy's Concert Choir, Timothy grade school students, alumni performances, musicians from within the Timothy community, a magic act, a hilarious pie-eating contest, and many more.
As an exclamation point at the end of the festivities, the varsity boys soccer team defeated rival Illiana Christian 2-1 in overtime.
TCSFest was organized to help the Timothy Christian Schools community celebrate God’s faithfulness to our school for our first hundred years. By just about any measure, it was a huge success.
Thanks to the event planning committee, and to all volunteers who worked so hard to put on a great event. If TCSFest was “100 years in the making,” it was certainly worth the wait!
