3rd Grade Welcomes Honduran Friends

This year, to integrate the theme “This is my Father’s World,” each grade level was asked to come up with a project to help the students understand ways to preserve and protect our Father’s World.

The third grade chose to support Hogar de NiƱos Nazareth Orphanage in Honduras.  The students were thrilled to learn that some of the students from the orphanage would be here in the States this week!  The orphanage began quite a few years ago when an 18-year old girl by the name of Carmen took on several young children.  “Mama” Carmen is now in charge of over 200 children.

On Monday, November 19, we were blessed to have six of the students visit our school, as well as Mama Carmen.  The entire 3rd grade gathered together with the students for a time of singing and questions and answers, translated by our very own Spanish teacher Ms. Maria Brasser.  The 3rd grade presented their Honduran friends with a small gift, shared some snacks and then closed their time together in prayer. They learned a lot and definitely enjoyed the time together with their new friends!
