Mr. Bill Ridder

Personal Profile

I grew up in the Timothy community, attending Timothy Christian Schools from Kindergarten through 3rd grade, then again for all of High School. Growing up I knew from a fairly early age I would be working in a mathematical field. During my high school years here I realized I would enjoy a career as a teacher, largely in part due to the excellent math teachers I had throughout my education. It is a goal of mine to give to others what my teachers gave to me.

I own a small house in Villa Park with my beautiful wife Alyssa, who also attended Timothy around the same time as I did. When I get a free moment I spend my time watching sports, playing sports, and making fantasy sports teams. But I also enjoy reading a good book, watching many movies, and even playing the occasional video game.

Professional Profile

I attended Taylor University in Upland Indiana, graduating with a B.S. in mathematics education in 2007. During my time there I stayed involved in the lacrosse team, and as a teacher’s aide, which involved providing a few classes with weekly help sessions. From there I moved back to Chicagoland where I had been substitute teaching, working as a teacher’s aide, and tutoring for 2 years before coming to Timothy Christian Schools in 2009.

I am currently teaching 7th grade math, 7th grade Bible, and the chapel planning class for the middle school, which has a handful of students who help plan our middle school chapels on Wednesday mornings. I am so pleased to be here teaching in the same buildings in which I received my own quality Christian education.

Philosophical Profile

My philosophy as a math teacher, and as a teacher in general, is a simple one. I believe we are called by God to use our bodies and minds to explore the world he has placed us in. One way we can do this is to challenge ourselves mentally to understand how His creation is made in an orderly and logical way. It is my goal to have constant discussions in the classroom to create a deeper understanding of math, as well as explore how this can affect our Christian perspective. And most importantly I hope to share of myself in such a way as to inspire students to embrace their Faith and make it their own.
