Mr. Ken Scholma
Personal Profile:
My name is Ken Scholma and I am the new fourth grade teacher here at Timothy Christian School. I currently live in Griffith, IN with my wife Christine and son Peyton. When I’m not teaching, I love to hang out with my family or go downtown with them to explore our great city, Chicago. I also enjoy anything in the great outdoors such as… kayaking, camping, fishing, and hiking.
Professional Profile:
In 2004, I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Theology and Church Ministry and Leadership. After graduation, I served as the director of youth ministries for seven years at First Christian Reformed Church in Highland, IN. During my time as a youth pastor, I felt God leading me into the field of education. This prompted me to further my education by obtaining my elementary education certification from Trinity Christian College in 2009. I am thrilled that God has led me to Timothy to begin my teaching career.
Philosophical Profile:
While teaching at Timothy Christian, I plan on applying the mission of service, discipleship, and transformation into every lesson that I teach and relationship that I build. As I serve my students through teaching, I will model the importance of serving the Lord and others. Jesus called us to make disciples, and as a teacher, I will make it my goal to continually encourage my students to seek their Savior in all they do. One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is helping students achieve their God given potentials and witness them being transformed through Christ. However, once we have become transformed by Christ, our new objective is to transform our world. As a teacher at Timothy, I would challenge my students daily to walk with Christ inside and outside of the school.
