Summer 2011 Reading Requirements for 4th-8th

 

 

To complete the summer reading requirement, students must do 2 things:

1.  Read one or more books that are Accelerated Readers.  The book you read is your choice.  You can find the Accelerated Reader point value of any book at www.ARBookfind.com. You must earn Accelerated Reading points according to your grade level:

  • Going into 4th—Earn at least 4 points
  • Going into 5th—Earn at least 5 points
  • Going into 6th—Earn at least 6 points
  • Going into 7th—Earn at least 7 points
  • Going into 8th—Earn at least 8 points

2.  Come to school to take the Accelerated Reader test in the library. 

Choose any of these times:

  • Tuesday, June 28, 10:00-12:30
  • Thursday, July 28, 10:00-12:30
  • Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1:00-3:00 (Meet the Teachers afternoon)
  • During school hours, Aug. 24-26,  for 4th through 6th grade
  • During school hours, Aug. 24 through Sept. 1,  for 7th and 8th grade

               

All 4th-6th graders must complete their summer reading Accelerated Reader tests by Friday, August 26.

All 7th-8th graders must complete their summer reading Accelerated Reader tests by Thursday, Sept. 1.

Points for summer reading do count for end-of-the-year library awards.

Points for summer reading do not count toward the point requirement for first quarter.

Points for 1st quarter required reading will start counting beginning on Monday, August 29.

NEW THIS YEAR--Students may check books out of our library for summer reading.  A student may check out a maximum of 5 books.

  • Books can be checked out on the following dates:  May 31-June 2; June 28; July 28.

  • All books are due on Wednesday, August 24, and our standard overdue policy will apply after that.

  • Books can be returned on June 28, July 28, or August 23-24.
