VARSITY BASKETBALL PLAYER HONORED
Timothy Christian junior guard Jaaron Holmes was honored last week for his great play by Walter Payton’s Roundhouse as one of the Prep Players of the Week. Jaaron is also one of the players eligible for Player of the Month to be announced next week. Curley “Boo” Johnson who played for the Harlem Globetrotters and Walter Payton’s Roundhouse has sponsored this prep recognition for the last two years.
TUITION TAX CREDIT
Tax time is upon us again. Did you know that Timothy Christian School parents can receive up to a $500 tax credit because of the tuition that they pay? You can do this by completing a “Receipt for Qualified Education Expenses” form which can be downloaded from the following website: tax.illinois.gov. Go to the left side and find “Forms/Publications.” Go down to near the bottom of the page under the heading “Other Tax Related Forms/Publications.” Look for “School Form”. Choose “Form”. This form indicates that it should be completed by the school. However, some of the information is not available to us (e.g. social security numbers). Timothy Christian Schools can provide a receipt with all the tuition amounts for each of your children which you could then transfer to this form.* You can then attach our receipt to the form. Please note that you must complete the ED Worksheet in the Form IL-1040 instructions to figure the amount of your credit. If you have any questions, feel free to call the business office at 630-833-4616.
*Timothy Christian Schools will not automatically send you a receipt for your 2007 payments. You can request one by calling or stopping in at the business office or e-mailing Lisa Zylstra at zylstral@timothychristian.com. The receipt can be mailed, sent home with a student, or e-mailed directly to you.
TIMOTHY-FRENCH STUDENT EXCHANGE HOUSING NEEDED
We have 12 Timothy students heading to Lyon, France on June 17-30, but first 19 French students are coming here from June 4-17. We still need housing for 2 boys and 3 girls. They are all around 14 years old and have been taking English since 3rd grade. We need parents of high school or middle school students to host them. With our Timothy students, they will take 4 days of trips around Chicagoland as a group, but in the remaining time they hope just to live in a normal American home to observe the culture and do what the host kids normally do. If you’d like to help or have questions to ask before deciding, contact Deb Van Prooyen at vanprooyend@timothychristian.com or (630) 620-0977.
EVERYBODY COUNTS WEEK IS APPROACHING
The Everybody Counts program is scheduled for the week of February 11th-15th. Everybody Counts is a parent-led curriculum for students in grades K-6. This innovative program is designed to help our elementary school students gain a better understanding of disabling conditions and create a climate in which we all feel at-ease with one another’s differences.
“Everybody Counts” is organized and presented by parent volunteers. The exact time for each classroom will be announced soon. Plan on attending a Parent Information Night on February 4th from 7-8 pm, in the elementary/middle school, and watch for more information about how to become involved.
PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT
The Early Childhood Education Committee at Timothy Christian Schools is hosting a Parent-Education Night on the topic of Sensory Integration Disorder. The ability to process information taken in by our senses is a key factor in children’s development. Speaker, Kathy Hirtzer, an occupational therapist from Elim Christian School will be presenting more information on how to become better observers of children’s senses and how to best help them process information to succeed at home and in the classroom. This event will be held on Tuesday, February 12 beginning at 7:00 in the grade school library.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
Ducking into confession with a turkey in his arms, Brian said, "Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I stole this turkey to feed my family. Would you take it and settle my guilt?"
"Certainly not," said the Priest. "As penance, you must return it to the one from whom you stole it."
"I tried," Brian sobbed, "but he refused. Oh, Father, what should I do?"
"If what you say is true, then it is all right for you to keep it for your family."
Thanking the Priest, Brian hurried off.
When confession was over, the Priest returned to his residence. When he walked into the kitchen, he found that someone had stolen his turkey.
