The week of April 14, 2008
A weekly email newsletter from Timothy Christian Schools to keep you informed, involved and invited.
Our Mission: “Serving God and His people, Timothy Christian Schools develops academically prepared Christian disciples who embrace Christ’s call to transform the world.”
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“What unspeakable comfort and strength is ours to know that in the midst of all our mischief, amid our scheming and bad speculations, regardless of our shaping, misshaping or reshaping of life, with all of our activities and failures, God is among us. God is not a graven image of our own longings and shortcomings. Rather God, through Christ, is among us as friend, advocate, savior, and above all as our living Lord, to correct, to forgive, to comfort, to love, and to heal.” - John A. Stroman in “The Thunder from the Mountain”

“A NIGHT OUT FOR TIMOTHY”
THE TIMOTHY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS BENEFIT & AUCTION
WE HAVE BEEN TRULY BLESSED!
The response to “A Night Out For Timothy” has been overwhelming. In fact, it’s been so overwhelming we have actually SURPASSED our attendance maximum and must regretfully put anyone else wishing to attend on a waiting list. Praise God for this wonderful show of support within the Timothy community!
For those who are able to attend, we have a fun and enjoyable event planned for you.
The night begins with a meal that the Hyatt at McDonald’s Lodge will prepare. A diverse menu for us to enjoy starts with appetizers at 6:00, followed by stir fry, pasta, and fajitas made-to-order at 7:15, topped off with coffee and a taste of chocolate.
Don’t miss the “Table of Values”; a table full of various gift certificates available for 10-20% off their face values – once they’re gone, they’re gone -- so be sure to get there early and return often. Several enticing Blind Draw baskets will also be on view which will include items such as an IPod Nano, a Webkinz basket, Wisconsin Dells Wilderness Resort Waterpark passes plus much more.
As always, a delightful array of silent auction items to bid on will be available as well as an exciting line up of live auction packages to bid on. For a preview of what will be available, please look at the online bid book on the TCS Website. With such a selection, we’re sure many items will catch your fancy. There are some offerings that more than one group could enjoy so make your plans now to bid and share them together!
Our auctioneer, Vinnie Zaffarano, is sure to keep you entertained as he moves the evening along with flair. You might even look forward to a few guest appearances along with one or two surprises along the way!
Come early, bid often, and most of all have fun while showing support for the wonderful blessing Timothy Christian Schools are to our students, to our families, to our communities, to Our Father’s World.
We are looking forward to sharing a fantastic evening with you. Thanks again for your support and we trust you will have a rewarding and memorable

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL IN REHEARSAL
There IS a balm in Gilead. It takes the arrival of a young girl fresh out of prison to transform this tiny little town in the NORTHWOODS of Wisconsin. Based on the motion picture of the same name, THE SPITFIRE GRILL, a musical, will be presented by the Timothy Christian High School Drama Club on the evenings of April 24, 25, and 26. The story is told in song in a wonderful bluegrass style. A message of grace, redemption and second chances shines through each note with the brilliant colors of paradise. Come and join us for what promises to be a very moving experience for audience members. Performances will start at 7:30 PM in the Huizenga Auditorium. Tickets will go on sale in the high school library/media center starting next Monday April 14. Reserved seats will be available only through advanced ticket sales. Tickets can be purchased during regular school hours in the library or they may be reserved by e-mailing Judd Rinsema at rinsemaj@timothychristian.com. This musical is recommended for ages 6th grade and up.

The scholarships were awarded by the Board of Trustees of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation to undergraduate sophomores and juniors. The Goldwater Scholars were selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,035 mathematics, science and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide.
The scholarships are for one or two years, depending on the recipient's year in school, and cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
Amy plans to attend graduate school in physical chemistry with a focus on computational modeling and to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry using computational modeling to design synthetic targets and understand molecular behavior. She is majoring in French in addition to chemistry, and plans to spend the fall 2008 semester in Nantes, France.
Amy had this to say: “I'd just like to add that I'm very grateful for all of the math and science teachers at Timothy (particularly Mr. Adamski) who first sparked my interest in science.”
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
A little boy asked his mother, "What's that you're reading?"
“A diary.”
“What's in it?”
“I can't tell you that. A diary is a highly personal and confidential affair; it has important secret dreams and secret yearnings. It's private. It's not meant to be shared with other people. And besides, this diary belongs to your sister.”
