The week of September 10, 2007
A weekly email newsletter from Timothy Christian Schools to keep you informed, involved and invited.
Our Mission: “Serving God and His people, Timothy Christian Schools develops academically prepared Christian disciples who embrace Christ’s call to transform the world.”
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
People say, "What good can one person do? What is the sense of our small effort?" They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time. We can be responsible only for the one action of the present moment. But we can beg for an increase of love in our hearts that will vitalize and transform all our individual actions, and know that God will take them and multiply them, as Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fishes. - Dorothy Day from Loaves and Fishes

BOOSTER CLUB GOLF OUTING
The 2007 Alumni & Friends Booster Scramble will be held this year at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Ruffled Feathers is home to Illinois’ only Pete Dye designed course, and is rated as one of Chicago’s Top 10 public golf courses. Ruffled Feathers boasts sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand and water, beautifully framed and contoured greens, and a Dye-signature island green.
The club offers complete services including a driving range and a chipping green. A barbecue lunch, beverage cart, great prizes and refreshments following the scramble will complete your day. The event provides friendly competition in a pleasant family atmosphere and is a great way to spend a day with friends. Our primary goal for the Booster Scramble is to raise funds for the purchase of an additional mini-bus for athletic and cocurricular activities.

So, if those renewal slips are beginning to straggle in, information will be coming shortly as to how you can continue to receive your favorite magazines and help Timothy, too! Stay tuned!

FOR PRAYER
Remember high school English teacher, drama club sponsor and golf coach Tom Day, who is recovering from successful emergency coronary bypass surgery. Pray for a quick and complete recovery.
Remember the community of faith at Wheaton Academy. On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, veteran teacher Carol Riebock died during a liver transplant surgery and went to be with her Lord and Savior. Wheaton Academy mourns the loss of one of its truly great teachers. At the same time, they celebrate a life lived well in service of her King. Mrs. Riebock was currently serving as Bible teacher and Bible Department Head but had also filled a variety of roles with vigor and enthusiasm during her eighteen years at Wheaton Academy.

DID YOU KNOW . . .
-that the high school “Back to School Dance” is September 22?
-that a photo taken by Timothy parent Tom Huizinga recently appeared on the weather segment of the NBC-5 News and in the September 2 edition of the Chicago Sun Times?
-that this year’s Octoberfest theme is about travel?
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
The pastor stood up one Sunday and announced to his congregation:
"I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we have enough money to pay for our new building program! The bad news is that it's still out there in your pockets."
