THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“He did not say to me, ‘You will not be assailed, you will not be belabored, you will not be disquieted.’ But he said, ‘You will not be overcome.’ He wishes us to trust in him, and all will be well.” –Julian of Norwich

SEARCH AND BENEFIT TIMOTHY WITH THE “BENEFIT BAR”

Timothy is pleased to announce a partnership with Benefit Bar, a free communication and fund-raising tool bar designed to allow the online Timothy community to stay more informed and involved.  The Benefit Bar is a free downloadable toolbar that enables users to get information directly from the Timothy website regardless of where they are on the internet. Say you're checking this weekend's NFL scores, and you remember that you'd like a sports update for the Timothy teams.  Simply click on the "Sports" icon on the benefit bar, and you'll be taken directly to the Timothy Sports page. You may also raise money for Timothy as you search the web. Downloading the Benefit bar toolbar will make this possible.  Say you're searching for shoes- the benefit bar includes a Yahoo! search engine embedded directly into the toolbar.  Simply type "shoes" into this search engine box and you'll get the hundreds or thousands of listings (including the sponsored links) that you're looking for.  If you click on any of the sponsored links, this generates money for Timothy.  The sponsored companies are paying Yahoo! to have their websites in a prominent location on the search, and benefit bar helps Yahoo! forward a portion of that money to Timothy.

MARKET DAY

We have an opportunity to earn some wonderful books for our TC library this month.  We need to increase our October 2006 sales by 10% and our customers by 10.  Our goal has been set at $6,108.66 and 111 customers.  We can do it!!  Last month we had 67 orders, totaling $4,524 which translates to a profit of $452.  Place an order yourself, ask a friend or neighbor to place an order using TC's account.  Every little bit helps to reach our October 2007 goal and earn those Scholastic books! October's Market Day Pick-Up date is October 12, 3:30-4:30 pm in the ES/MS Mini-Gym.  Orders can be placed by Internet or phone before Noon on Tuesday, October 9 or by turning in your order sheet to the ES office by the end of the day on Monday, October 8.  If you have any questions, please call Barb Cimmarusti at (630) 530-2996

BOOSTER CLUB GOLF OUTING

The 2007 Alumni & Friends Booster Scramble will be held this year at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Ruffled Feathers is home to Illinois’ only Pete Dye designed course, and is rated as one of Chicago’s Top 10 public golf courses. Ruffled Feathers boasts sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand and water, beautifully framed and contoured greens, and a Dye-signature island green.

The club offers complete services including a driving range and a chipping green. A barbecue lunch, beverage cart, great prizes and refreshments following the scramble will complete your day. The event provides friendly competition in a pleasant family atmosphere and is a great way to spend a day with friends. Our primary goal for the Booster Scramble is to raise funds for the purchase of an additional mini-bus for athletic and cocurricular activities.

The outing will be held on Friday, October 5, 2007. Registration, Barbecue lunch, and the driving range open at 11:30 a.m. A shotgun start for the scramble begins at 12:45 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the awards presentation at 5:00 p.m.

Registration and sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from an Eagle sponsor at $5,000 to a hole sponsor at $250. All sponsors will be recognized on the course, at the lunch, and will be featured in golf outing publicity. Individual tee time is $150.

DID YOU KNOW . . .

-that this Wednesday, the entire Timothy staff and all Board Members will gather together for a dinner?  It's a time of fellowship and to recognize several staff for years of service to TCS.

-that Timothy has eight married couples who both serve on the TC staff?

-that this past Saturday, HS students, along with several artistic staff members, gathered for a Paint Party to create all the colorful cutouts used for the Octoberfest backdrop?

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

The Haircut:

A young boy had just gotten his driver's permit and asked his parents if they could discuss his use of the car.

They said they'd make a deal with his son. "You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little bit more, get your hair cut, and we'll talk about the car."

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, "Son, I've been real proud. You brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm real disappointed you didn't get your hair cut."

The young man paused a moment then said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there's even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair.

To this his father replied, "Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"
