Having attended Timothy Christian School myself, as well as having had three siblings who graduated from Timothy, plus having two of my children currently enrolled as well and another who has graduated, I can truly claim that this school has always been a part of me. I am proud of what Timothy represents, what it does for children, and how deeply it touches all aspects of life as a student and later as an adult supporter. I want to give something back to Timothy by being on its Board of Directors. I want to influence others to become involved at Timothy, and to reap the benefits I have derived.
The strengths I bring follow from my long history of being connected to Timothy. My formative experiences as a Timothy student have helped me to be a people-centered Christian. If I can help shape Timothy’s future by inspiring and encouraging others to join the Timothy “family,” I will enrich both the school and those who will decide to come here.
I believe a Board member must share the joy of being a believer who has been shaped by a Christian school experience. We have a certainty, a relief, and permanent guidance in our Christian beliefs. To have had these beliefs nurtured already as children at Timothy we are by far more equipped to lead others. Our joy must be seen in our personal witness but also in our daily living. As the kids say, we have to “talk the talk” but also “walk the walk.” We need to have a biblically sound perspective and a personal commitment that others can see. I believe the Reformed perspective gives us the light we need to answer today’s questions concerning what matters most to us, and what our obligations to God and others are.
My husband, Dale, and our children are members of the Fountain of Life Church. I work full time as a treatment coordinator for an orthodontist. My contact there with people allows me to be a biblical “light on a hill.” My life-goal is to be a devoted Christian individual, wife, mother, friend, and influence upon those with whom I come in contact.
