Personal Profile
I grew up in Glen Ellyn and was fortunate to be able to attend Timothy Christian Schools starting in first grade until I graduated in 1996. Christian education both at Timothy and in college, wonderful teachers, and a supportive and loving family considerably impacted who I am today. I am excited to be part of the preschool team and be on the other side of education at Timothy! I have been a member at Lombard Christian Reformed Church since I was in eighth grade. I reside in Wheaton with my husband, Jeff, our two daughters, Alexis and Anna and our Yorkshire Terrier, Daisy. Our family enjoys swimming, going to the zoo, and traveling."
Professional Profile
I attended Taylor University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Music Education minor. My teaching career began in the Wheaton public school system where I taught for 7 years. For five years I was a first-grade teacher. While teaching first grade I used my evenings and summers to work on a Master of Arts Degree in Education with an emphasis on Instructional Strategies through Rockford College. After my daughter was born, I switched to teach half-day Kindergarten at the same school. I was blessed with wonderful opportunities in the Wheaton school district to grow as an educator and am thankful for the experience.
Philosophical Profile
Education is the foundation that children will build their lives upon. My role as a teacher is to teach children to love learning so they will continue to seek knowledge on their own throughout the rest of their lives. God made each child unique; therefore, it is my goal to help identify and engage each child’s talents and gifts through various teaching methods so that all students can achieve success.
Learning is not time and space specific. My classroom will be a place that motivates a child’s will to learn. It will be a positive and happy environment surrounded by a glow of love and excitement. I will hold high expectations for myself and for my students and truly believe that each child can achieve success inside and outside the classroom. I pray that God will help me to not only teach but also inspire and instill in each child a desire to love and serve Christ.
