Personal Profile:
I had the privilege to grow up in a loving home where my parents firmly believed in Christian education. I lived in Elmhurst where I attended Timothy Christian beginning in kindergarten until I graduated in 1994. My husband John and I are members of Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. We currently live in Lombard with our three children Luke, Tessa, and Kate. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Professional Profile:
Growing up, my sister and I always played school, so it was no surprise to my family when I decided to go into teaching. I attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where I graduated in 1998. I earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with minors in English, Fine Arts, and Early Childhood. After graduating, I taught 2nd grade here at Timothy for 5 years. I am happy to be coming back to teach preschool and am looking forward to the upcoming year. What a blessing it is to be colleagues with some of the teachers who inspired me along the way!
Philosophical Profile:
Every child is created uniquely by God. In preschool, I look forward to encouraging and facilitating each student's love of learning as they develop socially, physically, cognitively, and spiritually through a variety of play based activities. I hope to create a loving classroom environment where children feel safe and secure as they develop a sense of wonder and excitement about God's world.
