Mr. Dan Van Prooyen, Superintendent

Personal Profile

It's a privilege to be a homegrown, lifelong Chicagoland native.  I grew up in northwest Indiana and spent my undergraduate college years at Trinity Christian.  There I met my wife Deborah.  We've been blessed with three children, all married and living in the western suburbs.  This past year we have begun to enjoy the wonderful world of grandparenting with our first grandson, Thomas.  Leisure time is often filled by attending school-related extracurricular activities, but I also appreciate a quiet night playing Scrabble or a Saturday morning trying to master the game of golf.

Professional Profile

It's also been a privilege to be a lifelong participant in Christian education.  Twelve years attending Christian day schools, gaining foundational moorings at Trinity, and the rigor of graduate studies in administration at Loyola University have all contributed to my commitment to Christian education.  I started my career here at TImothy teaching high school biology.  I also acted as a part-time dean of students, which gave me a positive introduction to administration.  Between my 28 years here at Timothy along with a 7 year stay at Chicago Christian from 1979-1986, I have served as dean, athletic director, registrar, principal, and now superintendent.  Each day remains a joyful challenge.

Philosophical Profile

My philosophy of education is anchored in a commitment to the authority of the Bible which proclaims that God is the author of life and the source of all knowledge and wisdom.  Therefore, the Christian school exists to assist parents in the training of covenant children.  The product of this combined effort is a young person who is personally committed to the Lord, academically prepared to seek a life of obedient discipleship, and intellectually honed to critique worldly views from a Christian perspective.
