Mrs. Rebecca Vander Naald
Personal Profile
I grew up in Northwest Indiana. I attended Highland Christian School through 8th grade and went on to graduate from Illiana Christian High School. I am truly thankful to have parents who valued Christian education. My education was a blessing in my life. I am married to Hank Vander Naald, a fifth grade teacher at Timothy, and have one son. We attend Faith Christian Reformed Church in Elmhurst. I enjoy reading, gardening, creating art and spending time with my family.
Professional Profile
My desire to be a teacher began at an early age. I remember adoring my kindergarten teacher and wanting to be like her, even wearing my hair as she did – long braids wrapped around her head. I attended Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights and graduated in 1985. I started teaching Kindergarten at Timothy in the fall of 1985 and have been here ever since. I received my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University in 1990. I never strayed from my desire to teach and am thankful to my many teachers, especially Kindergarten, who encouraged and influenced me along the way.
Philosophical Profile
Children are a gift from God. And God has given each one special gifts and needs. As a teacher of young children, my job is to provide activities and experiences which meet the various needs of the children in my classroom. These experiences also help them develop an appreciation and sense of wonder for God’s creation.
I strive to make my classroom a place where the children feel they are an important part of our class community.
