Girl's Volleyball Team Makes TC History
11/7/11
The Girls Varsity Volleyball season came to a close on Saturday night at Super Sectionals, ending what was the most successful season in the history of Timothy's Volleyball program. The team earned the title of MSC Conference Champs, going undefeated in conference play, and added Regional and Sectional Championship trophies to our display.
On Thursday evening, the team made the long trek out to Winnebago HS for the Sectional Finals vs. St. Ed's. The first game was a close one, with the teams always staying with one or two points of each other. After a final tie at 24-24, the Trojans pushed for the final points to take the first set 26-24. During the second game, our team settled in and got to business with a final score of 25-18. The victory was a sweet one as this was the first TC Volleyball team to earn the title of Sectional Champs.
Saturday evening found the team in front of a very enthusiastic crowd at Lisle HS for SuperSectionals against Chicago Christian. Timothy came out ready in the first set, building as much as a 10-3 lead before the Knights came fighting back. Hanging on to that momentum, the Trojans took set 1 at 25-21. Timothy was plagued by several mistakes in the second set, and Chicago Christian took full advantage, taking the second set 14-25. Timothy bounced back in the third set and kept it a close game the whole time, but fell 21-25. The team would like to send a huge thank you to the family, friends, and fans that came out on Saturday night - the atmosphere was amazing!
Congratulations to the entire team and Coach Lindsey Van Schepen on a wonderful season
Volleyball wins first round of Sectionals
11/1/11
On Tuesday night, the Trojans travelled out to Winnebago to face Guerin Prep in the first round of Sectional play. Both teams came out firing, which created very long, exciting volleys for the first couple points. After that, the Trojans got settled in to a rhythm and pulled away with the lead. Both sets finished with the same score, 25-13, as Timothy clinched their spot in the Sectional final game. In this win, TC again had a balanced attack with Kacie Stoll (9 kills) and Makenzie Vos (8 kills) leading the way. Jenna Lodewyk put up 20 assists and 2 aces, and the team's defense was solid all the way around. TC now faces St. Edwards on Thursday night at Winnebago High at 7:00 pm for the Sectional final match.
Varsity Volleyball Team - Regional Champs!
10/27/11 - TC def. IC 2-0
One year ago this same time of year, TC faced off against Immaculate Conception for the regional championship game. And that's where the Trojans found themselves again on Thursday night, this time hoping for a different outcome than last year. In the first set, Timothy jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but that was the biggest gap that either team held all night. Scrappy defense and strong attacking from both teams created long volleys and made everyone work hard for every point. Fighting through many ties, the Trojans pulled out a 2 point lead late in the first set and held on to take the win 25-23. Early in set 2, the Trojans fell behind 2-5. This 3 point deficit seemed like it may be a hill just a little too big to climb, as TC could not get within more than 2-3 points for most of the set. After a few key blocks and kills, Timothy fought their way back to tie up the score at 18-18 and rode the momentum to give themselves a 22-18 lead. Then, it was time for an IC run, as they brought the game back to 24-23, but the Trojans were able to close out the final point of the match for the victory at 25-23 again. Bridgitt Buikema (10 kills) and Kacie Stoll (9 kills) led the hitters, Jenna Lodewyk put up 25 assists, and Jordan Smits (15 digs) and Cassidy Block (10 digs) led Timothy in the back row. Congratulations to the lady Trojans on a job well done!
The volleyball team and coaches would also like to thank all the fans that came out to support the team on Wednesday and Thursday night. Your support and energy in the gym created a great atmosphere for some exciting regional games!
Varsity Volleyball moves on to Regional Final
10/26/11
After getting a bye in the first round of regionals, the Trojans faced Aurora Central Catholic on Wednesday night. In the first set, the Trojans came out strong, going on a 5-0 run behind Hanna Markewycz's serves to start the game. ACC fought to recover their own lead at 8-9, and the middle of the set was a back and forth battle. Able to put a couple point runs together, TC built a little cushion at the end of the set to finish it off 25-21. Set 2 was tight at the beginning until Jenna Lodewyk got behind the serving line. Pushing her team to an 8-0 run opened the gap and gave the Trojans a definitive lead for the rest of the set. Bridgitt Buikema led all hitters with 7 kills on 14 attempts and no errors, followed by Kacie Stoll with 5 kills. Hanna Markewycz contributed 3 aces. Jenna Lodewyk used all of her hitters well, putting up 20 assists, and adding 2 aces. Cassidy Block was all over the back row, pulling up a team high 17 digs on the night. The Trojans now move on the to the Regional Championship game on Thursday night (27th) at 6:00 pm at Westmont High School against Immaculate Conception. Come out and support your TC volleyball team tomorrow night!

Varsity Volleyball - Conference Champs!
10/18/11
The Trojans faced off against Glenbard South tonight in their last week of regular season play. Both teams are at the top of the conference, and this match was a critical win for both schools. By winning this match, the Trojans would take the conference championship outright, and it would also be Timothy's first volleyball conference championship in the MSC. In set 1, the Trojans came out firing as they went on a 5-0 run behind the serving hand of Hanna Markewycz. Throughout the set, TC never let the Raiders within more than 5 and even built the lead to finish off the set. The Raiders came out fighting in set 2. TC fell behind at the start and kept battling back to keep the score close or tied through the early part of the set. With the score at 9-12, the Trojans reversed the trend and went on their own 5-1 run and took the lead for the rest of the set. TC came alive at the net tonight, with a team high 6 blocks and a very balanced attack from the hitters. The team was accurate and tough behind the serving line, with Hanna Markewycz leading the way with 11/11 serves with 1 ace. Cassidy Block and Jordan Smits also led the back row with 10 and 7 digs, respectively.
Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team on taking 1st place in the Metro Suburban Conference! The Trojans finish off their regular season at home against Ridgewood on Thursday night. Come out to support all the volleyball teams in our last home game, as we also honor our seniors with a special senior night.
Varsity Volleyball at Plano Tournament
10/15/11
On Saturday, the varsity team headed out to Plano for their last tournament of the year. The pool play was structured for 2 set matches, instead of playing out the best of 3. The Trojans defeated Kirkland-Hiawatha (25-13, 25-15) and West Aurora JV (25-17, 25-13), but split with Hickley-Big Rock (25-22, 20-25). With the split, the Trojans took 2nd place in their pool and moved on to playoff games, where they faced Westmont for the 3rd time this year. Refocusing after the disappointing tie, the Trojans came out ready to play and took the match in 2 sets (25-15, 25-18), with Jordan Smits putting away 6 kills, Cassidy Block putting up 15 digs, and Jenna Lodewyk lofting 21 assists. The final match of the day was against host school, Plano. With a balanced attack at the net and aggressive play, TC won in 2 sets (25-14, 25-13). In set one, the Trojans never had more than a 3 point lead, but were able to pull away near the end of the set to make it 19-16. It was just enough cushion to play side out ball and finish off the set. In set 2, the Trojans took and early lead and never let go of it. Fighting off a mid-game push when the Vikings went on a 5-1 run, TC responded with a 3-0 run to get back on top and eventually finish the set.
