Varsity Volleyball Moves on to Regional Final
10/29/09

The Trojan volleyball team started off regional playoffs with two wins on Thursday night.  The first round game was against Chicago (Dyett) and TC took that match in two games, 25-4 and 25-7.  The Trojans then faced the host school, Lisle Senior High.  TC came out strong in set 1, holding the lead for most of the game and winning 25-21.  In set 2, Lisle jumped to a 6-2 lead right away, and the TC had to fight back the whole game to make up for that early run.  Nearing the end of set 2, TC rallied back to tie up the score at 23-23 and again at 24-24, but Lisle came out on top 24-26.  With the match on the line, the Trojans came out with a determination to win and held a lead for most of the set.  TC was up 17-11 at one point but had to fight off a late game push by Lisle when they brought the score back within 2 points.  In the end, TC took set 3 and the match with a 25-20 score.  Timothy's tenacious defense was lead by Elise Biesboer (21 digs), Kelsey Koch (19 digs), Jordyn Platt & Kari LeGrand (8 digs each).  The strong offensive line was lead by Emma Vander Woude and Jordan Smits (7 kills each), and Amanda Dykema (6 kills), with Krista Lodewyk earning 27 assists.

Timothy will now play at Lisle on Saturday afternoon (1:30 pm) against Westmont High School for the Regional Championship.
