Mr. Mark Dykema

Timothy Christian Schools has a unique and direct witness opportunity to our children which, I believe, not only comes through the Biblical instruction given at the school but more importantly through the character of Timothy’s administration, staff and the Timothy Society.  I share and support the vision of Timothy for Christian Education and am motivated to participate in the continued development and growth of Timothy’s witness, helping to support and equip the Timothy community in developing relationships between our children and Jesus Christ.

Our family recognizes and agrees with the importance of Timothy’s mission and I believe Timothy’s programs have been and continue to be developed for the purpose of achieving this mission.  Board support for these programs, our staff, faculty and students is vital to the success of Timothy’s mission and this support will be most effective through board member involvement and interaction.  The success of Timothy’s mission can only be measured in the character and knowledge of its students.  Most importantly, Board members should be committed to prayer for Timothy and every member of its society on a regular basis.

Over the past several years I have enjoyed witnessing the ever-changing face of Timothy in its students as the school becomes more culturally diverse.  Having spent most of my childhood years on the island of Guam, I clearly understand that God knows no boundaries, loves all people and created the tapestry of cultures for our benefit.  I look forward to assisting Timothy in developing the opportunities God has given us.

I am a 1983 graduate of Holland Christian HS in Michigan, attended Calvin College and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  I have worked in the waste industry for 20 years in various roles, presently as a General Manager for Allied Waste, and also am involved in several independent businesses.  My educational and business experience has provided me with well-rounded knowledge of technical, operational and financial issues.    My wife Diane (a Timothy graduate) and I have three children, one a graduate of and the other two attending Timothy. We live in Oak Brook and are members of Elmhurst CRC.
