Dykema Wins Oak Brook Athlete of the Year Award
Timothy graduate Amanda Dykema ('10) was recently recognized as the Oak Brook Female Athlete of the Year. Recipients of this honor, awarded since 1974, must be nominated by their school's athletic program, demonstrate athletic excellence, and reside in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Dykema was a three sport athlete at Timothy, involved in volleyball, basketball, and track at the varsity level. She participated at the state level for Timothy's girls track team in the 4x800m relay team.
Dykema furthers a strong tradition of Timothy athletes to win this award, including alums Marcus Zeilstra (2005), Kevin Vander Wal (2001), Steve Vander Wal (1994), Peter Huizenga, Jr. (1993) and Becky Van Drunen, (1991).
Both Dykema and this year's male award winner Robert Kenny of York High School, will be formally recognized at the Taste of Oak Brook and Fireworks on Saturday, July 3rd at 4:00 PM.
The Oak Brook Athlete of the Year trophy and award information and pictures of the current year’s winners are on permanent display at the Oak Brook Park District’s Family Recreation Center.
Congratulations, Amanda!
