Life in Fourth Grade
The fourth grade curriculum builds upon the foundational skills and topics that are taught in 3rd grade in Bible, Math, Reading, and Language Arts. 4th graders begin the year by learning about the creation of the world in great detail. After studying the character of God through creation, students are exposed to the foundation of their Science and Social Studies curriculum for the year.
Throughout the year students explore God’s creation in Science through creating leaf and insect collections, learning about the awesome wonderful heart that God created, and other topics. The students learn about the very uniquely created regions of the United States in Social Studies as they make timelines, write a state report, and give a presentation. During the year, 4th graders read six novels and improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills.
In Bible, 4th graders focus on applying the Bible to their lives and learn how to articulately share their faith as they memorize Romans Road. The students this year are challenged to make a concrete and personal decision to follow Christ all of the days of their life. The evidence of true Christ followers is evident through their authentically written testimonies at the end of the school year.
Our fourth grade theme verse is:
Matthew 22:37-39 “Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”
