Life in 1st Grade

First Grade is a year of discoveries in which children learn about God as the creator of our universe, and, as His children, their place in it.

Through many language based activities children gain confidence in letter sounds and formation, composing stories, and reading a variety of literature.  God’s creation is further explored through thematic units such as Animals, Snow, and Transportation.

Using many mathematical tools and problem solving strategies, students discover the order and precision of God’s world.  Targeted skills include telling time, counting money, number patterns, and basic computation.

Using differentiated methods teachers aim to meet the individual needs of students and bring them to their maximum learning potential.  First Grade is a year in which a solid foundation for future learning is built.

“The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it."
