Mr. Peter Hegel

It is an honor and a privilege to be asked to serve on the Timothy Christian School Board. As someone who was fortunate to receive a parochial education during my childhood in Chicago, I have always appreciated the great difference a Christian education can make in people’s lives. One can see and feel the difference having God in the classroom makes in the attitudes of parents, teachers and students. This uniqueness has motivated my wife DeeDee and me to send our three children to Timothy, and I hope that my service on the Board can preserve the fine tradition of a Timothy education into the future.

I have been in the investment management field for over 25 years, an experience that has taught me more than just how to be good with numbers and figures. It also has shown me how people can reach different conclusions even when presented with similar facts! Resolving these differences in an uncertain world can be a great challenge. Every era has its challenges, and there is certainly no shortage of them today. I believe my varied financial and managerial experiences can bring new perspectives to the Board to help advance the mission of the school.

And this mission remains the same from one generation to the next, namely to develop young Christian disciples who can go into the world and be the leaders of tomorrow in their homes and communities, all the while being a light for others. We Board members get to influence the programs and curriculum to achieve this mission on behalf of all the children, and continually encourage the staff and administrators as they serve as well. What a humbling and yet exciting calling!

I am a graduate of Luther North High School (’73), received my undergraduate degree from Purdue University and my graduate degree from the University of Chicago.
