High School Band/Orchestra/Choir Concerts

for the 2007-08 Year

HS Band Information

HS Symphonic Band  

The HS Symphonic Band is for students in grades 9-12 who have been playing their instruments for at least two years. The band rehearses daily during school hours and plays a variety of original band works, orchestral transcriptions, marches, and popular music Instruments in the band are Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion. (Percussionists have to have some piano/mallet experience as well.) We play four public concerts a year at school, as well as at chapels, small group performances and at home basketball games. We also take a major trip every two years, and have played at Disney World in Orlando and the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.

Jazz Band

The TC Jazz Ensemble is a high level group focused on learning and performing in the jazz, latin, and rock styles. Jazz Ensemble rehearses two mornings a week before school, though it is for credit. The instruments in jazz ensemble are: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Vibes, and Drumset. (auditions may be held if there is an overload on an instrument) Jazz Ensemble gives 4 performances a year here at TC, as well as chapels and a few outside school performances.

Orchestra

Orchestra’s mission is to bring people closer to God through music, to instill an appreciation for all types of music, to introduce students to the highest quality of musical literature, and to gain musical and technical skills.

Concert Choir

 Concert choir is our top level of performance group of the vocal department at Timothy.  Tryouts are required for membership and students receive academic credit for participation.  An emphasis is placed on quality music and developing the music gifts God has given to members of this group.  Opportunity is also given for members to participate in a Women’s group and a Men’s group, both meeting before school two days a week.

Varsity Choir

Varsity Choir is a development group for the concert choir.  Membership is primarily underclassmen.  The varsity choir performs a few numbers at each concert choir.
