K-6 Counseling

Mrs. Andra Hersey is our K-8th Counselor. She graduated from Calvin College in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. It was at Calvin she began to discover the gifts and passions God created for her to work with children and families. She has spent time studying and volunteering with Young Life, a Christian outreach for middle school and high school students. She lives in Glen Ellyn with her husband Oliver, who is a Math teacher at Timothy Christian High School.
The Counseling Program was started at the Pre-K -8th grade level in the 2003-2004 school year. Mrs. Hersey goes to the 1st through 5th grade classrooms once a month to do classroom lessons. These focus on things like friendship, bullies, tattling and peer pressure. During the week, she also sees students individually for many different reasons. Friendship problems, developing social skills, behavior issues, conflicts at home and dealing with grief are some of the most common situations.
