Mrs. Debbie Lanenga
Personal Profile
My name is Debbie Lanenga. I am a member of the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church and am married to Jack, who is a former Timothy student, teacher and dean. Presently he is the Assistant Superintendent of Operations at Oak Park and River Forest High School. We have three children. My oldest son Jay lives in Hudsonville, Michigan with his wife Holly and daughters Addison and Alyse. My daughter Becky and her husband Chris Hoffman live in Villa Park with their twin daughters Leah and Hannah. My youngest son Mike and his wife Erin also live in Villa Park. I grew up in the Oak Lawn area, graduated from Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights and Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduation, Jack and I moved back to this area and I taught 1st grade at Timothy until our son Jay was born. As our family grew, I did substitute teaching until I accepted the position of preschool teacher. Since my three children attended Timothy from preschool through high school, there were several years that one could find the five of us there. I have enjoyed working with the 3-5 year-old children for the past 20+ years.
Professional Profile
I have a BA degree in elementary education from Calvin College. I am a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I attend the annual convention of CAEYC. I have attended several seminars to increase my knowledge of preschool learning and creative disciplining.
Philosophical Profile
Christian education is based on the truths of the Bible in every aspect of learning. In preschool, the children experience the greatness of God, the wonderful saving love of their best friend Jesus, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit through their play and positive interaction with peers and teachers. The children learn about the wonders of God’s world through their play and experiences. In our preschool classroom, I strive to be a loving and caring teacher as I interact with the children in their play and planned activities. My heart’s desire is for each child and parent to feel the love of Jesus in all I do and say.
