Mr. Jack LeGrand

Personal Profile

I grew up in Justice, Illinois the son of Phil and Alice LeGrand.  I married my lovely wife Sharon (Bosman), a Timothy Alum in 1989.  We began our life together on the “South Side” in Oak Lawn, Illinois where we both taught at Southwest Chicago Christian School.  God has blessed us with 3 children, Kari (9th grade), Kelli (7th grade), and Tyler (4rd grade).  They all attend Timothy Christian School.   We currently live in Unicorporated Glen Ellyn.

I am basically a sports nut.  I enjoy watching, playing, and also coaching sports.  I am a lifetime “Chicago” sports fan.  I anxiously await the Cubs winning the World Series and also the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup.  I am also a realist and understand this may not happen in my lifetime.  I also enjoy golfing and Nascar.  My biggest thrill at the present time is watching my children play sports.

Professional Profile

I attended Chicago Christian High School and Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois.  I graduated from Trinity Christian in 1988 with a B.A. Degree in Education.  I am a certified K-12 Physical Education teacher.  My first job was at Southwest Chicago Christian Schools where I taught grades K-8 physical education for 11 years.  I also coached basketball at the 8th grade and Varsity basketball for 2 years at Chicago Christian High School as well as Track and Field at the junior high.

I came to Timothy in 1999.  I currently teach high school physical education classes and also some elementary / middle school classes.  I coach the 8th grade boy’s basketball team and assist the Men’s varsity at the high school.  I also coach boy’s track and field at the middle school.   I serve as the middle school athletic director, intramural basketball, department chair of K-12 Physical Education and summer camp coordinator as well.

Philosophical Profile

I attended public school through 8th grade.  While attending high school, I really felt the importance of Christian education.  I believe Christian education is so very important for the development of a child.  It is very exciting watching many students with various gifts from God and also watching them develop those gifts over the years.  In the area of Physical Education, I have the task of not only helping students develop their bodies physically, but also developing the mental, social, and spiritual side of their health as well.  I believe that the Christian school has to have an atmosphere where students can explore different ideas.  They need to be able to share their beliefs with others on their journey of their Christian walk with the Lord.    As a parent of children at Timothy, it gives me great joy knowing that my children have that atmosphere here at Timothy Christian.  Working as a staff member, it is also comforting knowing what quality teachers are here trying to model Christ-like behavior in all that they do.  The work of the church, home, and school are all essential for Christian education to be a success.
