2nd Annual Ping Pong Tournament Recap

While the Olympics were under way in Canada, Timothy had its own highly anticipated sporting event on Saturday the 13th.  Around 40 participants and numerous spectators gathered at the middle school gym to take part in the second annual homecoming weekend ping pong tournament.  The tournament consisted of three divisions of play offering competition for all abilities.

The novice bracket consisted of 9 scrappy grade school aged players battling each other for most of the morning with Trevor Hoogendoorn emerging from the losers bracket to beat Patrich Roelof in the finals to take the trophy.

Tom Griffin avenged his early departure from last year’s tournament by using his unorthodox two hand grip to fight past over 20 entrants in the recreational bracket and eventually defeated Nick Groenwold for the title.

9 men took up the gauntlet thrown down by defending advanced division winner Dan Roelof and challenged his title.  Through out the morning these gladiators pitted their abilities and differing styles against each other until the early afternoon brought the final match featuring the old veteran Dan Roelof vs. the plucky upstart Josh Cook.  The battle raged and both competitors abilities were great but eventually the experience of Dan Roelof won the day as he retained the title of Advanced Bracket Champion.

The Alumni board would like to thank all those that donated their Ping Pong tables to the tournament.  With out your support we would not have been able to host this annual event.
