We are tremendously blessed by the commitment of our School Board. They are a united team with profound courage, inspiring vision, and an enthusiastic passion for Christian education.
Our school is widely considered one of the premier schools in all of Chicagoland and one of the flagships for Christian Schools International (CSI). We have an excellent program of education, a strong arts program with a rich tradition, an athletic program noted for high achievement, and an unwavering conviction to train, equip and inspire this generation of young people to change the world for Jesus Christ. We are a school of multiple generations and yet also a school with many new families joining the team each year. Over 250 churches are represented at Timothy Christian School and over 55 different communities.
Our school operates without any debt and holds Foundation assets approaching $4.4MM, while maintaining one of the lowest tuition rates in the area among comparable schools. The list goes on…but you get the picture—we have a great school! Our school is strong primarily due to the leadership of our School Board and their desire to work unto the glory of God. God has used this group to dream big, to pursue successful outcomes, and to achieve great things. Moreover, this group will go down in history as the Board that led the charge with Project IMPACT—the largest capital campaign and one of the greatest overall initiatives in school history.
We have several Board members finishing their term this year. Although some will stay on for another term, others are departing from their role on the Board. Please take a moment to review the “bio” of these outgoing Board members below…and be sure to say “thanks” the next time you see them. God has used each of them in mighty ways.
Sara has been instrumental in the workings of the Education Committee and the Technology Committee. She is well networked and respected in the TC community and has worked hard to represent the ideas and opinions of our families. Sara is a strong leader with a commitment to doing things well. She likes to “do her homework” before racing to conclusions or outcomes, and she has consistently displayed a biblical wisdom in her role on the Board. Both our Education Committee and Technology Committee have been busy this year. We are making great strides in both arenas, and Sara has been a key contributor.
Steve De Boer
Steve has faithfully served on our Board for two terms (or six years)—the maximum. Steve has served as Treasurer on our Board in the past and was the President for the last two years. Steve’s leadership has been so important over the years. He is steady and strong…and he never panics. He is intelligent, contemplative, and carries himself with biblical wisdom. Most importantly, Steve is a servantleader and a man of God. He has become a dear friend of mine, and I have been blessed by him in so many ways. Our school is better and stronger because of Steve. His integrity has blessed and lifted our school.
Ken has been a valuable member of our Board over the last three years. He has served on the Marketing Committee, along with the Donor Relations Committee. Ken has an extraordinary work ethic. This work ethic combined with a passion for our school has resulted in high achievement for each committee. I don’t think Ken has missed an Open House during his term on the Board. He can be found at the entrance greeting new families as they arrive. He is a godly leader with many talents, and I admire him. Ken is widely respected in the entire TC community, and the Board will miss his leadership.
Mindy is finishing up her term on the Board. She has been fully engaged and highly driven. Mindy has served on the Extra-Curricular Committee and she has been the Chair of the Marketing Committee. Mindy has brought professional expertise to our marketing efforts and an unrelenting drive to accomplish our mission. Mindy loves our students and supports them in so many ways. Most people don’t know all of her work behind-the-scenes, but she has been instrumental in coordinating many events and functions for our high school students over the years. She genuinely wants TC to be the best!
Dave has been so valuable to our school in many ways. He has served on the Donor Relations Committee and the Finance & Operations Committee. He has also been a prayer warrior for our school— meeting at 6:30am every Friday morning with other men to pray for TC. He fully understands how biblical principles apply to business. Dave is a CPA and his accounting expertise has been critical to our school. One of the primary reasons that our school has been so fiscally healthy is because of Dave. He is deeply committed to our school and to your family. Dave has been a pillar on our Board in many ways.
Joel has served two consecutive terms on the Board—a full six years. He has been on the Executive Committee for much of that time as the Secretary of the Board. He has also been the Chair of the Technology Committee for many years. His influence will be greatly missed. Joel possesses a contemplative and inner strength that is uncommon. He is respected throughout our school. I have never heard a negative comment about Joel Munk. He is a man of character and conviction. One of the many things that I admire about Joel is that he is a listener. He genuinely loves our school and families.
“Smitty” has served on our Board for one year. God has moved Scott and his family to a new adventure in Kansas, so he is stepping down from the Board. Scott has served on our Education Committee and the Extra-Curricular Committee. I have always appreciated Scott’s enthusiastic support of TC. I enjoy watching him cheer for and support his daughters. Our school will miss Scott and his family. They have made a difference in the lives of those around them, and they have been heavily involved in our school for many years. Our prayers go with you and your family, Scott.
In summary, these departing Board members are passionate about Timothy Christian School. They love our school, our families, our students…and they love Jesus. These Board members have demonstrated an “ALL IN” type of commitment in every regard. I have been blessed and honored to serve this group and to serve with them in the advancement of the mission of Timothy Christian School.
Very Truly Yours for the Mission,
Matt Davidson, Superintendent
