Mr. Carlton Rink

Personal Profile

God has blessed me with a lovely wife of twenty-two years, Judy, and three wonderful children, Adam (20), Justin (16), and Rachel (12).  In addition to active involvement in my local church, Immanuel Lutheran, Elmhurst, I enjoy house remodeling, biking, hiking, canoeing, and tennis.  One of my favorite scripture passages is I Thessalonians 5: 16-18, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Professional Profile

I earned my undergraduate degree in Math and Physics from Western Michigan University in 1983.  After working at a couple of different high schools and starting work on my graduate degree I came to Timothy in 1995.  Shortly after arriving here I received my Master’s Degree in Physics from Northern Illinois University.  My belief in the importance of continuing education has kept me actively involved in numerous teachers’ workshops, seminars, and advanced coursework.

Philosophical Profile

In addition to teaching academic content, my goal is to engage and guide the students in the learning process so that they love learning and “learn how to learn”.  At the same time, I think of my work here at Timothy as a ministry.  I am a role model and a mentor, not just academically but in the application of my faith in the scientific arena and our community at large.  My classroom “motto” is, “God’s Presence Everywhere”, as we explore the evidence in His created world.
