Girls Soccer Falls to Fenton
4/5/11
After two weeks of not playing a match the Lady Trojans geared up to play against their conference opponent the Lady Bisons. The weather was perfect for TC's home opener, crisp and cool with a bit of sun. Knowing full well of what Fenton was capable of doing, the team wanted to focus on the basics and look to control the match defensively. Unfortunately, the Lady Bisons were determined to strike first. Scoring twice in a span of 5 minutes Fenton jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead which they would keep until half time. It was clear that the Lady Trojans were going to have to get in sync if they wanted to make the match competitive.
Regrouping at halftime the girls were bent on making up the 2 goal deficit. Possessing the ball much better, the Lady Trojans appeared to be more sync. Defensively Rose Clousing led the charge in the second half containing the Fenton forwards. The game would go back and forth for 35 minutes in the second half with both teams having attempts at goal. In the 75th minute TC was able to break through the tough defensive line of Fenton with a through ball to Michelle Ditchfield who then turned and connected with Jasmine Stein to make it 2-1. Momentum had shifted, but it would be too late as Fenton would hold on to win 2-1.
The Lady Trojans are 2-1 (1-1) and travel to Elmwood Park on Thursday night.
Girl's Soccer vs. Francis W. Parker
3/19/11
The Lady Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Michelle Ditchfield scored a volley on a beautiful corner taken by Kyla Smits. F. W. Parker tied the match at 1-1 before going into halftime. The Lady Trojans battled hard throughout the second half and Kyla managed to find the back of the net to put TC up 2-1. Defensively the lady Trojans locked down and really controlled the midfield. Aimee Vos had 10 saves. Final score: FWP:2, TC-1..
Girl's Soccer Gets Win in OT Against Riverside-Brookfield
3/17/11
After falling behind on an early goal in the 37th minute, the Lady Trojans battled back to tie the game on a long through ball sent by Michelle Ditchfield to Kyla Smits who buried the shot in the corner. The RB Bulldogs, however, were not satisfied and they came firing back in the second half to open up a 2-1 lead. When it was looking as if the Lady Trojans might walk away with a loss, Michelle Ditchfield created space in the corner and sent a gorgeous cross to Cassidy Block who volleyed it in for a goal in the last minute of play to send the game into overtime.
The Lady Trojans defense tightened up and denied RB any good looks at the net for the remainder of the overtime. Both teams would fail to score in overtime. The Lady Trojans would go on to win in PK's. Aimee Vos had a strong performance in overtime and really fueled the Lady Trojans confidence. Final score; RB-4, TC-6
