4/5/12 – Islamic Foundation @ TCHS (W 12-0) (Record 3-1)

After scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game, the Lady Trojans knew this was an opportunity to put into action the things they had been practicing. While some of the structure of their game was lost, the girls made some really nice runs and through balls while also scoring off a corner kick. Congrats to Juliana Stremler on the shutout and to Meagan Evenhouse and Sarah Dirkse for outstanding offensive games (each had a hattrick).

3/22/12 – IMSA @ TCHS (W 6-0) (Record 2-1)

After a brief thunderstorm rolled through prior to the game, the girls got the game underway a little later shortening our halves to 30 minutes. But that is all the time TC needed to get the win. Dominating possession time and attacking time, the girls had chance after chance to put the ball in the net.  Alexis Hoogendoorn started off the scoring with two great shots from just outside the 18 that just made it under the bar.  Sarah Dirkse took a free kick from on top of the 18 and rolled a shot to the far corner for a 3-0 lead at the half.

In the second half it was much of the same.  Autumn Zigterman added another goal to start the half after being sprung by Hoogendoorn for a smart finish into the corner.  Sarah Dirkse scored the remaining two goals off interceptions from goal kicks to complete the hat trick! Congrats to Haley Margason for the shutout and Hoogendoorn, Dirkse, Biscan and Zigterman on another strong offensive game.  Hoogendoorn finished with 7 shots on frame to lead the team, but just couldn’t complete the hat trick. Our defensive team of Van Kampen, Slager, De Mey, Evenhouse, and Mattox gave up little and really helped Margason seal the win early for TC. This is the last game before Spring Break.  The Trojans return to game play 4/5/12.  Have a safe and relaxing spring break!

3/20/12 – Lisle @TCHS (W 3-1) (Record: 1-1)

The Lady Trojans continued their season on another beautiful night at Timothy on Tuesday night.  This time they hosted Lisle, a team that has been good competition in years past. In the first half, it was a back and forth game which saw TC jump out to a two goal lead – both goals off the foot of Autumn Zigterman, both assisted by Alexis Hoogendoorn. Zigterman made two good runs into the box where Hoogendoorn found her with a through ball for a finish and minutes later a great cross from the flag that Autumn one-touched beautifully. In the final 15 minutes of the first half, the ladies got too comfortable with the lead and let Lisle back into the game.  First half ended 2-1.

In the second half, the Trojans shock off the goal against and played a much stingier defensive game that did not allow a shot against for the rest of the game. After a foul committed in the box by Lisle, Alexis Hoogendoorn confidently put the ball off the left post and in on the PK to give TC a 3-1 lead – the final score. Congrats girls on your first win of the season! TC’s next game is Thursday against IMSA. Hope to see you there!

3/17/12 – F.W. Parker @ TCHS  (L 1-4) (Record: 0 – 1)

The JV girls soccer team kicked off the season this Saturday against FW Parker at home. It was a beautiful day and it was great to see parents and friends out in support.  For some of the girls, this was their first soccer game ever! The Trojans started off very strong in the first half, battling for loose balls and getting 3 great scoring chances, but they were unable to put one in the back of the net.  After some unfortunate bounces, the visitors got on the board first as one slipped through our defense for a tap in.  Parker added another couple before the half putting the score at 3-0 after 35 minutes.

After regrouping during the half, the Trojans played a more spirited game and gave it their all in the final 35 minutes.  Trojans got one on the board in the 45th minute when Biscan relentlessly followed her shot that went off the post to jump over a defender and tap the ball into the corner.

While it would have been nice to start the season with a win, the girls played a strong game and showed improvement from half to half. They are excited for their next game against Lisle on Tuesday. Hope to see you out there!
