Mr. Matt Van Schepen
Personal Profile
I grew up in Edgerton, a small town in the southwest corner of Minnesota, as the oldest of three boys. I attended a Christian school K-12 and participated in any sport I could get my hands (or feet!) on including baseball, basketball, soccer, track, and even a little cross-country and floor hockey. I spend most of my free time rooting for the Minnesota Twins and fishing year-round (and waste any of the rest of it on my fantasy sports teams). I have been married to my wonderful wife, Lindsey, since June 2008 and we currently reside in Willowbrook.
Professional Profile:
I graduated from Northwestern College (IA) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in K-12 Physical Education and 5-12 General Science. I moved to the Timothy community right after graduation and have taught 8th grade Science & P.E. since then. I currently coach 8th grade boys basketball and JV baseball.
Philosophical Profile:
I truly appreciate the impact that Christian education has had on me after spending my 17 years of schooling in a Christ-centered educational setting. I honestly believe that a school that effectively equips its students to become Christian disciples can be a powerful tool to change the world we live in. I see that at TCS and am grateful that God has allowed me to be a part its mission. It is my hope that my students are able to leave my classroom and say together with me that “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
