Boys Baseball Makes History as Sectional Champions
The baseball team closed out their season on Memorial Day losing to Chicago Christian in the Supersectional. This is the first time in Timothy Baseball history that that TC advanced to the round of final 8 in state.
The team began their state tournament with an exciting win over St. Joseph in the regional final to win the Regional Championship. Trailing 1-0 going into the top of the 7th, the Trojans were able to push across 2 runs and then hold on for the 2-1 victory. In the first game of Sectionals the Trojans jumped on Francis Parker early and went on to an 11-0 victory.
The Trojans continued their hot start in the Sectional final by scoring 7 runs in the 1st 3 innings and went on to a 7-2 win over Holy Trinity to earn the first Sectional Championship in school history.
Team members are seniors: Josh Anderson, Joey Davidson, Noah Marrera, Brian Schiff, Jonny Strube, and Shaun Van Tholen; juniors: Jimmy Allen, Connor Gwaltney, Nick Huisman, Brady Klooster, Jake Loerop, and Jon Tazelaar; sophomore Trent Marrera; and freshman Harrison Stanton.

Boys Tennis – HoogendoorN & Daniels Finish Top 12 at State
The Timothy Boys Tennis team wrapped up the 2017 season with a top twenty finish at the IHSA state tournament. This was a historic year for Illinois high school tennis, as there were two classes for competition for the first time. Timothy is still one of the smallest schools with boys tennis. There were 160 teams entered into state Class A tournament for schools under 1400 students.
Seniors Nathan Daniels and Trevor Hoogendorn swept through the Timothy sectional with a first ever 1st place finish for boys tennis. They then headed to state tourney in northwest suburbs with a perfect 15-0 record and a top 16 seed. 256 doubles were entered at sectional sites and now 64 left at state. Trevor and Nathan cruised though Thursday’s matches winning over Providence Catholic and Charleston.
Friday’s match pitted them against number 1 seed from Chicago UHigh . They dropped ahard fought match to eventual state champs 6-2, 6-2. They came back in back draw matches to pick up two more straight set wins over Fenwick and Benet Academy, both tennis powers . Strong net play was the key to these wins along with some great lobs.
They returned for the final day and dropped a close and controversial match to Latin School. A key line call swung the match in Latins favor. However Nathan and Trevor finish in top 12 at state and awarded All-State honors and highest finish in TC tennis history. They end their TC careers at 19-2 with a couple of tournament medals and a conference championship.
